Yoga
Yoga is an ancient Indian form of knowledge dating back over 5000 years. The word 'Yoga' comes from the Sanskrit word 'yuj' meaning 'unite or integrate'.
Yoga is about the uniting the individual consciousness with the universe's consciousness.
Ancient Yogis believed that in for a person to be in harmony with themselves and the environment, they must integrate the body, mind, soul and spirit. They created a way of achieving and then mainting this, by a combination of exercise, breathing, and Meditation - the three main Yogic structures.
Yoga teaches how to treat the body with care and respect, Yoga Exercises improve circulation, stimulate the abdominal and other organs, and put beneficial pressure on the glandular system which is belived to result in better health.
Breathing techniques are tought and students gain greater control as they slowly increase their breathing. By focusing on breathing they prepare their minds for meditation.
Yoga sessions are held:
Monday 7.30-8.30pm and 8.40-9.40pm
Wednesday 7.30-8.30pm
Saturday 10-11am
